Three people died due to sudden floods and debris in Rajgarh of the Ramban district, while many houses were completely destroyed. Seven people lost their lives due to mountain debris falling in the Mahore area of ​​​​Reasi. So far 54 people have died in this disaster in the Jammu division.

Huge losses in Uttarakhand

Several landslides and floods occurred in Uttarakhand due to torrential rains in the early hours of Friday. Two women died due to mountain debris in Pausari village of Bageshwar, and three people, including their husbands, are missing. A husband and wife died after a house and cowshed were buried under debris in Mopata village of Chamoli. According to the State Disaster Management Authority, 30-40 families were stranded in many areas, who were rescued and taken to safe places.

Disaster hits Himachal Pradesh

10 people, including Mani Mahesh pilgrims, have died due to continuous rain and landslides in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh since August 24. Eight people are injured, and four are still missing. The Bharmour assembly constituency was the worst affected; many villages were cut off from other parts. The administration delivered rations and essential items to the affected areas through air and foot travel.

Water level of rivers increased, road blocked

Due to the rising water level of the Alaknanda and its tributaries in Uttarakhand, vehicular movement had to be stopped on many national highways. Due to waterlogging on the Badrinath route, traffic was stopped for safety; later, the route was opened when the water level became normal. Shops and schools in the Dhari Devi area have also been temporarily closed. The Meteorological Department issued a 'Red Alert' for Bageshwar, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Dehradun districts and an 'Orange Alert' for other districts.

Relief and rescue operations continue

Despite the massive destruction, the administration is engaged in relief and rescue operations. People walking on broken roads between Bharmour and Chamba are being taken to safer places. Authorities have started preparations to evacuate the stranded people by air. Houses, roads, and agricultural land have been damaged in many villages.

Loss of life and future warnings

Natural disasters have caused widespread devastation in the hill states this monsoon. Authorities have warned that the rain may continue. People have been appealed to to remain alert and stay in safe places.
